Varna Shopska Salad 🥗

Tomatoes, peppers and cucumber chopped fine and buried under a blizzard of grated white cheese — Bulgaria's national plate, best eaten on the Black Sea coast in summer.

Black Sea Coast Bulgarian ⏱ 15 min Facile

Méthode

  1. 1

Chop tomatoes, cucumber and roasted peppers into small, uniform dice — this salad is cut finer than you think.

  2. 2

Slice the red onion paper-thin and salt it lightly to take the raw edge off.

  3. 3

Toss everything with a dressing of sunflower oil, a splash of vinegar and the tomato juices.

  4. 4

Pile high on a flat plate and scatter with parsley and olives.

  5. 5

Grate the sirene cheese thickly over the top so it falls like snow; dress nothing further and serve cold.
